Directions
Nearly half the route follows the Balkantrasse, a railway cycle path that is up to five meters wide and has a gentle gradient. The return journey from Altenberg to the Rhine railway line follows the Dhünnweg, which is quite narrow in places. An information system explains the history of the area.
The Dhünn Loop is integrated into the cycle route network of the Rhineland region. This network, with its red and white marked junctions on signposts and overview maps, makes navigation easy. The Dhünn Loop is also marked with its own orange symbol, indicating the correct route.
Junctions: 20 - 22 - 23 - 11 - 62 - 63 - 18 - 21 - 20
Locations: Leverkusen-Wiesdorf - Rheindorf - Opladen - Bergisch-Neukirchen - Pattscheid - Burscheid - Blecher - Altenberg - Odenthal - Schlebusch - Manfort

Route markers

Furthermore, the trail is marked with white paving stones at all intersections for better orientation.

More information / links
Since October 2021, the pedestrian and cycle path along the Rhine between Leverkusen-Rheindorf and -Wiesdorf has been closed for approximately three years due to renovation work around the A59 and the A1 bridge in Leverkusen. The Dhünnweg and the Dhünn Loop are therefore being rerouted via Bürrig along the Dhünn River (signposted towards Hitdorf). The pontoon bridge (open only on weekends) can be reached from Rheindorf. Thank you for your understanding! (Status: October 8, 2021)
