Enchanted paths to mills and fairy tales
The Eifgenanlage in Wermelskirchen offers an entry point to the Eifgenbachweg. The park and leisure facility was the pride and joy of the up-and-coming town at the end of the 19th century. The Berger Mühle mill a good 1.5 kilometers downstream is considered one of the oldest half-timbered houses in the Bergisches Land region. From the "Neuemühle", legends, fairy tales and the memory of a devastating fire accompany hikers on their way to Rausmühle and Markusmühle.
The remains of the Frohntal hammer, whose water wheel originally powered a wool spinning mill with a "cloth factory", offer impressive evidence of the former use of the Eifgenbach. In addition to insights into the flora and fauna of the Eifgenbach valley, the hiker learns about the successes of nature conservation, such as the dismantling of the former Burscheid drinking water reservoir. The remains of the Eifgenburg castle offer the opportunity for an impressive journey back in time to the early Middle Ages shortly before reaching the destination.
Eifgenbachweg - A stream tells its story
In the south, this foray leads onto the "Bergischer Weg". From Neuemühle, there is a connecting path to the "Bergischer Panoramasteig".
The Eifgenbachweg is part of the new :dhünnhochfläche hiking trail network, which was developed as part of the Regionale 2010.
The trail has a total of 14 information boards. We would like to thank
