The timber-framed building route takes you through many villages characterized by timber-framed buildings and through beautiful nature.
On this tour through Nümbrecht and the surrounding area, you will get to know the typical image of the Bergisches Land region.

The "Fachwerkroute" (Timber-Framed House Route) signs will guide you. From the starting point in Nümbrecht Mitte (Nümbrecht Town Hall), turn right onto Otto-Kaufmann-Straße, past the school complex to the roundabout. Turn right there (Göpringhauser Straße). At Homburger Straße, turn left, passing the Homburg paper mill. After approximately 600 meters, turn left off the L95 towards Gerhardsiefen and follow the road. You will cross the L350. Continue towards Kreuzheide, then to Nallingen, past the riding stables, to Krahm, Birkenhof, and Löhe. In Löhe, turn right onto the L350 towards Marienberghausen. There is an opportunity for a short break there.

Refreshed and ready to go, follow the L350 from Marienberghausen to Herfterath. There, turn left onto the L339 towards Nümbrecht. After 500 meters (in Schöntal), turn right off the L339 towards Hardt. Follow the road past Wolfsscharre, Kurtenbach, and Heide to Niederbreidenbach. Here, cross the L38 and continue on the road to Grunewald. Turn right onto the K55 to the village of Straße. Turn left here towards Lindscheid. At the Weber fruit juice press in Lindscheid, you can purchase juice made from fruit grown in the traditional orchards of the Bergisches Land region.

Next, we visit the “eco-village” of Benroth, which was designated a model village “ecological village of the future” by North Rhine-Westphalia in 1991.Selected route. From there, cycle along the "Old Concrete Road" via Langenbach, Berkenroth, past Gut Rottland, through Loch, Haan, Hömel, and Wirtenbach. Between Hömel and Wirtenbach is a sawmill that is still in operation today. In Wirtenbach, cross the L38 and continue cycling towards Drinsahl. Here, turn left onto the K28 district road to Grötzenberg. There, turn left into the picturesque half-timbered village of Bruch. Via Distelkamp and Ödinghausen (L95), you will reach Nümbrecht again after approximately 40 km.

Further information

The route is entirely paved, but largely traffic-free/low-traffic, as it mainly follows paved farm roads.

The beautiful surrounding nature makes this route well-suited for families with children. However, it is best cycled with suitable e-bikes.

The signage is not yet ideal, so we recommend bringing a map or the GPX track.
