A hiking trail for the whole family
The starting and ending point of the family hiking trail is the FIT Hotel in Berghausen, located approximately 1,5 km east of Much. Its elevated position offers a magnificent view of Much's town center. Near the hotel is the Germana Chapel with a large seating area, perfect for a family breakfast, a picnic, or a refreshing break before the hike.

Along the way, ten question-and-answer stations on topics from Grimm's Fairy Tales add excitement. But don't worry – if you get stuck, hedgehog "Isidor" will help you find the answers. A voucher awaits as a reward for solving the riddles. However, you can only redeem it (at the ARAL petrol station in Much) if you punch the symbols into this leaflet at the designated punch-hole stations – thus proving that you have completed the route.

After the Germana Chapel, the path descends to the hamlet of Wersch. Here you'll pass a beautifully designed insect hotel (privately run, with plenty of information). The route continues to Berzbach (this section is not really suitable for strollers) and the Farm Museum. This privately run museum offers insights into the lives of rural people in bygone eras, showcasing everything from large machines in the open courtyard to antique...
There's plenty of equipment to look at, touch, and learn about in the shed. For example, children learn that "enamel" is something completely different from "email." Next to the exhibition rooms is a "Backes," a traditional, wood-fired oven where bread is baked from time to time (and can then be purchased). A hand-operated machine demonstrates how butter was made in the old days. Outside, children can get hands-on: pumping water by muscle power is just one of the activities, as is weighing themselves on an old potato scale. At a replica mill wheel, the young visitors learn how it works in a playful way. A "ram pump," a water pump that requires no external power source, is sure to amaze. Refreshments are available upon request.

For more information, please contact the Tourist Information Office at +49 2245 610888 or the museum at +49 2245 4623. Before the longest part of the hike begins, the children can let off steam: From the museum, the trail leads to the Berzbach playground. Whether it's the seesaw, climbing tower, or soccer field – there's something for every age group. From Berzbach, the path leads up to the heights of Vogelsangen. There, you'll be treated to an impressive panoramic view of the Siebengebirge hills, and on a clear day, even the Eifel hills. The trail then continues through shady, mature forest.

The final stretch of the trail soon brings weary hikers' feet back to the starting point at the FIT Hotel. For example, if you started after a 10 a.m. breakfast at the Germana Chapel, it would now be between 13 and 14 p.m. – depending on how long you spent at the question-and-answer stations. It's therefore fortunate that the FIT Hotel offers a pleasant outdoor area with a great view of Much. On weekends, they serve waffles and hot and cold drinks there.
