This cycle route is part of the Kirchdorfradweg Wipperfürth, a series of cloverleaf-shaped cycle routes that together lead through the church villages around Wipperfürth.
This tour leads through exceptionally beautiful and varied landscapes, through numerous meadows,
Pastures and forests, and across some of the hills of the Oberberg region with magnificent viewpoints.
The drive along the Bever Dam is particularly appealing, inviting you to linger and swim. From Wipperfürth to Egen, you'll encounter a few inclines, but you'll be rewarded with exhilarating descents along the way.
The first church village on this tour is Kreuzberg, the largest of the Wipperfürth church villages. It lies at an altitude of approximately 375 meters. The village church was built in the Neo-Gothic style between 1867 and 1869. Also worth seeing are the Church of Our Lady and the war memorial for the fallen and missing of the two World Wars.
The bike tour continues through the scattered villages of Egen, the smallest of Wipperfürth's church villages. Even from a distance, you can see the onion-domed church in the village center, a distinctive feature for this region. From Egen, the route descends quickly along the Bever Dam. Through the wooded banks, you can repeatedly catch glimpses of the reservoir. Those who prefer a break with a view of the water will find several options on the section between Mickenhagen and Großberghausen.
This cycle route leads across the dam of the Bever Dam and then along the former railway line on a level path to Wipperfürth, back to the starting point at the Ohler Wiesen.
The route consists primarily of well-maintained, paved agricultural and forestry roads with gentle to steep inclines in the first section. The second section, starting from Egen, is flat to gently sloping, with the exception of a few minor climbs along the Bever Dam. Experienced cyclists of all ages can enjoy the typical Bergisches Land landscape around Wipperfürth on this route.
