Sound trail - Of sounds, sound and noise

Birdsong, traffic noise, music - the world is full of sounds that we perceive with our hearing. On the Nümbrecht "Sound Trail", hikers can discover how this works and why it requires an anvil, hammer and stirrup, as well as the healing effect of music.

People with visual impairments know all too well how to find their way around using their sense of hearing. They not only feel the world, but also listen to the sound waves that are reflected by objects.

Six richly illustrated boards along the 6.1-kilometre circular trail provide information about animal super ears and hearing plants as well as the difficulty of communicating under water. Hikers can also test their own hearing at adventure stations. A humming stone encourages you to produce sounds that affect the whole body. At the bird alarm clock, you can listen to feathered early risers at the touch of a button and play melodies on the tree xylophone.

The original "sound trail" was developed by the municipality of Nümbrecht together with the Oberberg Biological Station, and the trail runs parallel in parts.

Towards the end of the tour, the hiker learns how we can protect ourselves from noise that makes us ill. The sound trail itself offers one possibility: On it, relaxing silence and the sounds of nature can be enjoyed to the full in the Homburger Ländchen.

Nümbrecht is a stage of the "Bergischer Panoramasteig".

The trail has a total of 6 information boards. We would like to thank Steffen Müller, who looks after the trail as a volunteer trail patron. There is a small plaque with a QR code at the start information board on the sound trail, which takes you directly to a quiz. All you need to do to take part is scan the QR code.
