The trail begins at the Linde hiking parking area next to the Catholic parish church, built in 1869. Heading north, it follows the road towards Frangenberg, passing a wayside cross. To the east lies the village of Spich. At a fork in the path, the route leads through a sunken lane in a forest to the vicinity of the village of Kurtenbach. From there, you can follow the Ommerbach stream to its source in Ommerborn. At this "three-village corner" is a former monastery with a chapel, where a priest, known as the "Rebel of Ommerborn," once supported the resistance against the French occupation. Along the high road is the noteworthy open-air altar, where the annual Corpus Christi procession and the blessing of horses and carriages used to take place.
Following the course of the Ommerbach stream downstream from Kurtenbach, you'll reach the "Zur halben Buche" (At the Half Beech Tree) seating area, created by local residents in 2014. From there, the trail leads to Kaufmannsommer, a hamlet with the Ommertalhof estate, a notable property. A grain mill once stood here as well. The route continues through Rölenommer, where garden enthusiasts regularly gather for the "Open Garden Gate" event, and on to Müllersommer. As the name suggests, a grain mill also existed here, dating back to before 1700. From there, a short climb leads back to the starting point at the church. To experience the entire Ommer River, follow the L-shaped trail in Müllersommer, past the former dolomite quarry, to Quabach, where the Ommer flows into the Lindlarer Sülz river. There are also interesting side paths to explore around the Miebelsberg hill.
