A visit to the fairytale forest is a perfect complement to this hike.

The hike begins right in front of Altenberg Cathedral. It leads north through the beautiful Eifgenbach valley for a short distance before you return along the opposite bank towards Altenberg. On the way back, you'll pass the Märchenwald (Fairytale Forest), which is worth a short detour.
