The Witzhelden Fruit Trail leads through valleys and over hills through a charming and varied landscape. The main attraction is the orchards with their numerous old and newly planted fruit trees. The trail runs through forests, past typical Bergisches Land villages, and offers beautiful views of the Bergisches Land region.
The Weltersbach valley offers hiking opportunities to the neighboring fruit trails in Leichlingen and Leverkusen. Additionally, the Leichlingen fruit trail can be reached via the access path from Oberbüscherhof.
All paths are marked. Information panels and variety labels provide a wealth of information about the orchard habitat. A walk is worthwhile at any time of year, as there are numerous orchards to admire along the way.
The Witzhelden Fruit Trail was planned by the NABU Nature Conservation Station Leverkusen-Cologne eV in cooperation with the city of Leichlingen. Funding was provided by the Rhineland Regional Association (LVR).
Starting point: The starting point is at the Rusticus farm restaurant in Krähwinkel, where parking is available. However, a bridge has been closed there since August 2025, so the Wersbach stream cannot be crossed. Access is also possible at Ober- and Unterbüscherhof (with very limited parking) or Herscheid (parking available).
