Circular route along the Ülfe and Wupper rivers

From the starting point (Hohenfuhrstraße parking lot, town hall, city center, Radevormwald) we go left into Hohenfuhrstraße, past the town hall and after 400 m turn left into Ülfestraße. At the end of Ülfestraße, turn left into Ülfe-Wuppertal-Straße, towards Dahlhausen (NO CYCLE PATH AVAILABLE, PLEASE DRIVE ON THE RIGHT!). The small Ülfebach stream accompanies us for a length of approximately... 6 km and leads through the scenic recreational area of the Ülfe valley with the dammed water of the Ülfebad. Continue driving to the right, give way! We come to the village of Dahlhausen and can continue cycling on the cycle path to the right of the road until we reach Dahlerau. In this area, the so-called Wupper villages, the textile industry had its "great heyday" until a few years ago. Of the three once large companies, only the buildings and the listed, still inhabited "workers' settlements" remain today. After approx. After 2 km we turn left off the cycle path (road must be crossed!) and reach the former Dahlerau train station via a slight descent on the left-hand side. Cross the Wupper bridge and turn left into Wülfingstraße. TIP: turn right, approx. 300 m further on, you will reach the Wülfing Cloth Museum - a visit is worthwhile. From there to the end/barrier of Wülfingstraße, the route follows the Wupper river on a road closed to motorists (until the Wilhelmstal district we are on the Bergische Natur- und Museumsroute "Straße der Arbeit"). After the second crossing of railway tracks, the path continues to the left over historic cobblestones, towards the former Dahlhausen train station. A number of nostalgic trains are parked on the remaining tracks. We leave the cobblestones and turn left into Hardtstraße (the street must be crossed). Turn right immediately after the historic railway viaduct into Hardtstraße. From there, continue along a wide forest path to the village of Wilhelmstal. The Wupper River, with its gentle waves flowing along a particularly scenic wooded area, is especially inviting for visitors to linger. At the end of the forest path, in the village of Wilhelmstal, the route continues to the left on an asphalt road towards the Wupper Dam. The road rises below the dam. After approx. After 500 m we turn right and reach the top of the dam with a beautiful view all around. Continue cycling along the top of the dam and turn left at the end. The route continues along the Wupper Dam with fantastic views of the water and landscape. After approx. Turn left after 1,5 km and immediately after another 100 m turn right towards the Lennep waterworks (Panzertalsperre) to continue your journey. On this wooded road (only open to local traffic), you will reach after approximately... 1 km, above a slight incline, to the idyllically situated Panzertalsperre reservoir. From here there are two options for route R2. Either follow the signs, then continue straight ahead, after approx. After 200 m and a short, steep climb, turn immediately left towards Repslöh. The road leads through a small wooded area and after another small "hill" the hamlet of Repslöh is reached. The second option is to circumnavigate the tank dam on established forest paths. Drive to the right above the dam and continue off the paved road for approximately... Turn left after 250 m and immediately turn left again onto a forest path. Always follow the fence surrounding the dam. Twice, always at the end of the fence, the forest path continues to the left until, after a small climb, the paved road is reached again. Turn left again here and the tank dam will accompany us on the left for approximately... 400 m to the road that leads to the right to the village of Repslöh. (Route extension by approx. (1,6 km.) From Repslöh, the journey continues on the R2 to the left along a 1,5 km long gentle descent through the charming Feldbach valley. Here you can enjoy nature in its purest form. At the end of the descent, we reach the pre-dam and drive along the Wupper Dam to the end of the road, here we turn left - the road must be crossed. The tour continues on the cycle path on the right side of the road (together with the R1a) over the Wupper bridge, after approx. Turn right after 600 m to the Kräwinkel recreation park, which we reach after a short, gentle climb. From here, an approximately 4 km long cycle path (Bergerhofer Bahn on the former railway line with a slight incline through fields and meadows towards Radevormwald, town centre). At the end of the cycle path, the road must be crossed to the left, using the crossing aid. The cycle path continues on the right-hand side along Kaiserstraße and ends at a pedestrian traffic light before the entrance to the city center. Continue straight ahead on the street (one-way street) until you reach the market square (pedestrian zone). The market square is crossed on the left side towards Oststraße, where after another 200 m you turn left into Schützenstraße (dead end). On the other side of the street is the starting point, the town hall parking lot, which can be reached via the pedestrian crossing on Hohenfuhrstraße.
