Cycling across the hills of Radevormwald
From the starting point (Hohenfuhrstraße parking lot, town hall, Radevormwald town center), we turn left onto Hohenfuhrstraße, then left again at the traffic lights onto Kaiserstraße until we reach the bend where Alte Landstraße and Hohenstraße meet. We continue straight ahead across Hohenstraße and onto the cycle path along the B 229 through Rädereichen/roundabout to Grüne. The cycle path then leads left along the B 483, past the Leye glider airfield. At the end of the cycle path, the tour continues on the main road. Use the pedestrian crossing! (Beware of car traffic.) We continue on the right side of the main road (no cycle path) and after 400 meters turn right towards Filde. We follow a lightly trafficked country road that leads through fields, woods, and meadows. In the village of Filde, the road bends to the right, and we cycle down to the Ennepe Dam. Before the dam, we turn right and cycle along a well-maintained road, open only to local traffic, alongside the picturesque reservoir towards the village of Böckel. At the end of the approximately 2 km stretch between the water and the forest, the cycle path continues straight ahead to the hamlet of Böckel. After a short, steep 300 m climb, we continue straight ahead for 50 m on a farm track and then turn right. A stunning landscape with an impressive view of the Ennepe Reservoir provides cyclists with the energy for the gentle 1 km climb to the village of Born. Please cycle carefully when passing through the hamlets! The route continues straight ahead on the lightly trafficked road over the northeastern ridge of Radevormwald, through the villages of Borbeck, Schmittensiepen, Oberschmittensiepen, and Klaukenburg, past the state forest, which accompanies us on the left. After approximately 2,2 km in the village of Eich, we cycle to the stop sign (beware of car traffic) and turn right. The route continues on the cycle path along the B 229 via Grafweg to the village of Grüne. Here, we cross the intersection of the B 229 and B 483 using the pedestrian crossing. We continue straight ahead on the cycle path along the B 229 via Rädereichen and the roundabout. At the end of the cycle path, we continue along Hohenstraße to the junction of Alte Landstraße and Kaiserstraße. We continue straight ahead on Kaiserstraße (beware of car traffic) where we turn right towards the town center. After approximately 1 km, at the traffic light-controlled intersection, we turn right onto Hohenfuhrstraße. After 800 m, we reach the town hall parking lot/starting point, located on the right-hand side of the road.
