- Destination: Marienheide train station, Bahnhofstraße 13-17, 51709 Marienheide
From Marienheide train station, the route first leads to the Brucher Dam. Follow the dam towards Müllenbach. The path then takes you to Dannenberg, the highest point of the themed route at 460 meters above sea level. Next, descend to Börlinghausen to the source of the Wipper River and continue to the Lingese Dam. From there, the route follows the former railway line. Passing through Gogarten, you reach Ohl. Here, a visit to the gunpowder repositories and the gunpowder museum, where the history of black gold is recounted, is highly recommended.
The route continues along the former railway line to Wipperfürth. This Hanseatic city is almost 800 years old and was founded in 1217. From there, you'll follow the railway line past the Neyesiedlung settlement, through Hartkopsbever, to Hückeswagen, and from there to the Wupper Dam. At the Kräwinkler Bridge, you'll continue along the former railway line towards Radevormwald.
Via the heights of the Bergisches Land region, you will travel via Schwenke, Anschlag and Kreuzberg to Rönsahl and Gogarten, returning to your starting point in Marienheide.

Directions
Many sections of the route follow disused railway lines. These are particularly characterized by their gentle gradients and are well-suited for e-bikes and touring bikes. With some ups and downs, you'll explore the beauty of the Bergisches Land region from a cyclist's perspective, discovering the Lingese Dam in Marienheide and the Wupper Dam, a former industrial water reservoir still used for hydroelectric power generation.
The route marked with the water quintet logo can be accessed from the following starting points:
Marienheide: Bus station / Hückeswagen: Hiking parking lot at the Wupper reservoir, "Mühlenweg" / Radevormwald: Town hall parking lot, Hohenfuhrstrasse / Wipperfürth: Ohler Wiesen parking lot. We suggest Marienheide as an example starting point.
Flooring: üMostly paved, along the Lingese reservoir there is gravel or forest floor.
Recommended bicycle type: E-Bikes
Signage: inconsistent signage
