From the hiking parking lot at the Glück-Auf-Halle, the trail leads past the shooting range through the "Freiheit" nature reserve, which enchants visitors with its extraordinary juniper heath. While you can enjoy a fabulous view over the Bergisches Land region to your left, you have the option of taking a detour to the trigonometric point "Knöppchen," which not only lies directly on the border with the neighboring state of Rhineland-Palatinate, but at 480,63 meters above sea level is also one of the highest points in the Oberbergischer Kreis district. The Natursteig trail also begins here; this unpaved path later rejoins the circular hiking trail.
The route continues through the heath, always along the state border, on the paved road towards Kamp, passing the model airfield. Shortly before the village of Kamp, a short detour leads to the Dreiherrenstein (Three Lords' Stone). Passing the small village of Kamp, the path continues towards Nosbach. At the former football pitch, where horses now graze, we turn onto the "Alpenweg" (Alpine Trail), which got its name because the mining village of Wildberg appears like an Alpine village from there. A short, unpaved detour in the middle of the Alpenweg leads to a spring-fed marsh.
The trail continues downhill through a landscape bizarrely altered by Cyclone Kyrill. Passing the fish ponds in the "Wiesengrund" (Meadow Valley), the "Alten Schulweg" (Old School Path) leads to the center of Wildberg. Here, the old chapel and village fountain can be admired, and the children's playground can be enjoyed. Continuing along the circular route, following the extension of the Haldenweg (Slag Heap Path), the trail skirts a lush green landscape with magnificent viewpoints. Later, a further detour leads to the Bergische Kaffeetafel (Bergisch Coffee Table).
The path climbs steeply into the "Auf der Burg" area. Here you can turn left onto the Mine Circular Trail or right onto the Dwarf Trail, both of which are natural paths and later rejoin the circular hiking trail. Continuing straight ahead, you stay on the paved hiking trail. The Miners' Path leads past the foundations of the former "Central Shaft" of the Wildberg Mine. The wheel of the old winding tower is now the landmark of Wildberg and is located next to the Glück-Auf-Halle (Good Luck Hall), to which the path now leads back.
