Altenberg, with its cathedral and fairytale forest, and Lindlar, with its open-air museum and historic town center, are equally suitable starting points or destinations for a day trip. The route from Lindlar is described here as an example. From the Bergisches Freilichtmuseum (Bergisches Open-Air Museum), this tour takes you along the disused Sülztalbahn railway line to Linde. Here you can admire an old steam locomotive before continuing your tour via Müllersommer and Delling towards Küten-Olpe. Via Hungenbach and Breibach, you reach Bechen and its landmark, the donkey. Continue towards Neschen, then turn left through Scheuren and down via Bülsberg to Altenberg. Here you can visit Altenberg Cathedral or the German Fairytale Forest. Returning towards Lindlar, you travel via Maria in der Aue to Neschen and again through Bechen. Continue towards Biesfeld and from there to Offermannsheide and Georghausen Castle. The path then leads you parallel to the Sülztalstraße (Sülz Valley Road) to Hommerich. From here you can then travel again on the disused railway line via Linde back to your starting point in Lindlar.
E bike: The route is ideally suited for e-bikes. You'll have the opportunity to charge your batteries, especially during a visit to the Lindlar Open-Air Museum, a stop at the "In der Delling" inn, or a visit to Altenberg.
