Schöne Route entlang von vier Talsperren im Bergischen.

The area around Marienheide, Wipperfürth and Hückeswagen stands out for its unique concentration of dams in Europe. This route passes by four of these dams. What effects do the dams have on the flora and fauna, and what animals have found their habitat in the dams? In the audio reports, you can find out more about the small animals, or animals living hidden away, which you might not notice at first glance. On this tour, the water accompanies you through the Bergisches Land region. Take a look at the source of the river Wupper or accompany an inspector visiting the dam at Bever. On this bike tour, there’s plenty waiting to be discovered!

Arrival/departure:

The RB25 takes you from Cologne to Marienheide station. There are parking options available at the station.

During the summer months between March and October, the “Bergischer FahrradBus”, or Bergisch bike bus, travels between Leverkusen-Opladen and Marienheide on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. For anyone who only wants to cycle a part of the dam route, it’s possible to travel back with the bike bus from Marienheide, Wipperfürth or Hückeswagen. Up to 20 bikes can be transported at the same time on the bus trailer. For more information, see www.bergischer-fahrradbus.de.
